PI-RADS scores from your prostate MRI help doctors decide what to do next:
· PI-RADS 1 or 2: Low concern. These results are usually reassuring, and no immediate biopsy is needed.
· PI-RADS 3: Unclear risk. This is a “gray zone.” Your doctor will consider your PSA level, PSA density, age, family history, and other test results before deciding on a biopsy.
· PI-RADS 4 or 5: High concern. These scores strongly suggest clinically significant prostate cancer. A targeted prostate biopsy is often recommended.
Why PI-RADS Matters
· Provides a clear system for reading MRI results
· Helps avoid unnecessary biopsies in low-risk cases
· Supports early detection of aggressive cancers
· Informs better treatment decisions
